Love and Friendship

I've got a week off until exams, so I closed up commissions and strapped on the big guns to attempt a large pixel piece. Success? That's for you to decide. Technically, I broke a few rules of pixel art to bring you that sexy overlay lighting Totally worth it though. It was looking a bit flat before that, and it was the part I was looking forward to the most.

This piece came about because I needed some large-scale practice before I do the thing my boyfriend keeps bugging me about even though he's not a brony Anyway, I had a thought about how similar these two Princesses are in what they do. It's two parts of the same coin, here represented as them circling each other, ridiculously long manes and tails tangled into each other. Cadence love and Twilight friendship.

The vines are there because they looked a bit bland on their own, but a full-scale background wasn't feasible. My first idea was a kind of mist, but I'm glad I thought a bit more and got the vines. Then it was obvious to add a few roses for love, but what flowers represent friendship? Those yellow flowers, that is! I can't be bothered finding their name right now, I'll give an update on that later.

This baby will probably be my largest for a while. It was at least 15 hours, I believe. Wouldn't surprise me if it was 20+. Pixel art is meticulous. Then I add overlay and ruin half of that meticulous stuff
