Smol notes on species creation things and stuff
There are many things I wish to talk about, but I always end up writing about it and... leaving it behind to die on my stash. Today my intestinal-problems self decided to write down a summary of some of the thoughts I have that might be useful for our community, so here they be (I even added nice reaction pics I had to them):
♦ You should create what is appealing to you.
When getting into the adopts community you will probs first meet the most popular species going around your artistic circle. So you think to yourself that you wanna make a species, and what you do?
I will call them ... Galaxy babies. If you pay $300, you can

Tips on HOW TO BE A BETTER ARTIST.
Sometimes I get a notes from you guys asking about tips to draw better. It's okay to ask if you're prepared to get respond that does not resolve all your problems ♥ Many of you ask about techniques, specific things to make your drawing work or just anatomy. I'm not at a place when I can teach you any of this. I'm still at my artistic journey and I'll be in it for the rest of my life. But I can still share with you some experience that I gained while travelling with my drawing. So here they are 8 core points to improve.
1. Don't try to find your style at first. When your hand isn't warmed up by tons of training and studies you'll only g

Thoughts and Concerns on the Core Membership
dA is a site made up of many differnt kinds of artists with many different kinds of goals. A "one-size-fits-all" premium membership is not going to work, especially when considering a good sized amount of artists on this site are teens with limited incomes. There needs to be a happy medium between dA making money and the users being able to afford to keep paying dA. Many users had a hard time as it was paying for memberships, but to raise the price all the way across the board only insures that the memebrs who were struggling to pay will now drop the idea of buying a membership altogether. As it stands, there is too high a price for too few i
What your rights are as an adopt buyer and seller by kopica, journal
What your rights are as an adopt buyer and seller
I've seen a lot of people upset because adopt sellers are changing their ToS. To me it looks as though a lot of buyers and sellers are unaware of their rights and don't know how to protect themselves! So hopefully this will give everyone some insight into what they're entitled to and how to protect your designs/species as a seller and your rights as a buyer.
A ToS is a legal contract, but you are not always bound to ToS updates
A ToS is a legal contract, even if you don't sign anything! So legally, when you bought the character, any rules that were stated (whether or not you can trade, resell, how much for, traits you're allowed, etc) apply
This is why you (and your art) get ignored. by Suzanne-Helmigh, journal
This is why you (and your art) get ignored.
People often get the sense of being ignored in the art-scene, especially here online. We all try so hard to get our foot in the door, it's like trying to stuff yourself in an overfull bus like a sardine in a can.
Sometimes you just want to socialize with other artists you admire and you seem to be talking into a brick wall or perhaps you've send your portfolio to a company over a dozen times and still don't even seem to get the smallest response or feedback. I will try and tell you WHY you get ignored and HOW you can get noticed instead.
I will go through the following cases of being ignored:
:bulletgreen: Your comment.

Many people asked me about which sites I use (or used) to learn and keep myself updated about art. So I decided to make a list with art websites that offer tutorials, advice, or other content that inspired me. Of course there are many other individual artists that inspire me greatly, but I've tried to keep this list to the ones that provide the community of advice and tutorials (otherwise I could go on forever).
I hope you enjoy it ^__^

A large collection of video tutorials, mainly on human anatomy. Very detailed, to the point, and with visuals that make it easy to follow even for non-native English speakers.

Deviantart was not my first digital art place were I used to reside! Back in 2002/03 I dont quite remember, I joined an art forum thingy called Team artail oekaki. Back then I was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge sonic fan. I used to love sonic when I was a kid, and many years passed and I just couldnt find out anything about him again untilk around that time when I saw one of the new games in the store I used to go to. I SCREAMED Internally! I remember, I freaked out, I wrote his name down finally remembering how it was written down, went straight home to use moms computer to search him up. I SCREAMED FOR DAYS XD day long modah fakking screaming
Take your time
That's all I really wanted to say. I could launch myself into a book-long explanation of all the things to do to get better, of what to read and what to watch and what to look for, all the "how to's" and "do this"...but in the end there is one thing I've noticed that seems to get overlooked: people aren't taking their time. Slow down!
I can't tell you how often I've seen newer artists ask for a critique on something they did 'really quick'.
The worst thing I've seen newer artists do is ask for a critique on something they've done from imagination....
If you remember anything on your journey's to improving your art and find
One of the things I mentioned in my journal about social interaction was that you should only watch a person on DeviantArt when you were genuinely interested. While that states the obvious, the statement sort of backlashed on me, and many people called me a hypocrite for saying the above thing, because I've been advertising my profile at dAhub (https://www.deviantart.com/dahub) and apparently that's one of those things you shouldn't do.
However, I wouldn't be me if I didn't think of this as bullshit.
I've been calling this whole "marketing is evil" statement on DA utter nonsense before, and I will do it again. Because it actually is. It makes completely no sense to be on

Promote your art (on DeviantArt)
So you have your awesome art project that, you feel, the whole world needs to see? So you've signed up to be a DeviantArt member. Because, DA... that's where all the cool artists reside... isn't it? So you've posted your art. You've been here for a few weeks, or perhaps even a few months or years. But despite all your efforts, you still get close to zero comments. Why? What went wrong? It could be your art is really bad. But most likely, you're not approaching this subject the right way. Becoming well known on DA doesn't only rely on your art skills. It also relies on your marketing skills. And let that be exactly what most aspiring artist fo
